The power of Google (part 2)
Categories: Article

google1You might recall my mention of a highly placed Google Images picture of 50 Cent on this very site dragging in thousands of visitors.

Well, as nice as the influx of visitors was, it’s not really my bag. I’ve no intention to make this a popular/money making website. And as far as I can tell, no more than a half dozen of these additional readers actually glanced at other pages on this site.

Hence the picture has now been deleted, and it’s disappeared from the Google Image search.

If you’re at all interested, the four days of a top three search for various ’50 Cent’ image requests brought in around 11,000 unique visitors and just a smidge over 22,000 page views. Nice if you’re a ‘big site’ eager to show off wicked stats to marketing types. Bit rubbish for a hairy Yorkshire man simply eager to show off his work.

I am quite interested in the reasons WHY that picture seemed to score so highly. As far as I can tell, there are multiple copies of the same image plastered all over the web. So made mine so attractive to Google? It’s not as if I slipped in a few mentions of ‘sex’ ‘boobies’ or ‘willy wonkers’ into the keywords. Anyone care to shed any light there?

In more interesting news, someone DID find this site after searching for some variation on ‘arab sex f*** movies’. And I’ve absolutely no idea why.
